Can anyone please clarify if the virginia state single speed championship spans all classes beginner thru expert? It sounds like all you need is a single speed & plenty of endurance or rest breaks!!

There is only 1 class for Single Speed and that is the Va. State Championship Class. Lots of fun and a great group of guys compete in this class of all abilities.

You can print out an entry from this site, visit any of the sponsoring shops later this week for flyers (or other shops in the state by next week) or wait until 9/20/10 for online registration at active.com.

My daughter is interested in doing the Kids Race, but she is 12 Years old. So what age division would she be in? Also what would the fees be. And are there going to be any vendors there selling things? Thanks

She can do the Kids 14 and Under race which is Free. This race will only use to front flatter sections of the course. There will be food vendors and T-Shirt sales.

what is a front flatter?

Excuse my english but that just means that there are only small hills on the section that the kids race on.

The trifecta should have a "place" option, if Casey would spring for it. $1000 for the three wins, $300 for two wins and a top-three place, $100 for one win and two places, or $50 for three places. Only one prize given out, to the best finisher.

The $1000 for the Trifecta is the total dollar amount for all 3 class wins (Mountain Crit, Single Speed and Pro/Expert) The total purse payout for wins in each of these 3 classes would be approximatly $600 - $700 (plus some really cool bling!). Thus the $1000 is really like a $300 - $400 bonus. The diveresity of these 3 classes will make the completition of the Trifecta diffucult for even the most elite racer. Thus we will also be offering a runner up Cash Bonus to the top finishing Trifecta competiter who does not win all 3 classes. This bonus (Probably $100) will be in addition to the cash won in any of the 3 Trifecta classes.

Clydesdale Question: is the 200 lbs requirement w/gear or is it body weight? I have heard others with this question and thought I would ask. It seems that many are looking to get into the Clydesdale group as it is the only 3 lap race on Sunday. "Big boys rule, remember this one precept and your time with me will not have been ill spent"

Tidewater Challenge said...

The Clydesdales will be doing 4 laps this year. This is more representative of the modern day clydesdale and will give them more time to burn calories, Tee Hee! I forgot to change it on the flyer! The 200lb weight requirement has always been body weight. No camelbacks, helmets, tools or lead in the pockets. Scales will be used!

Is there going to be any pre rides?

Unknown said...

Thanks for the answer. I think that is great, 4 laps and more calories lost. Win Win. Also I noticed that Bikes Unlimited is out of registration forms. I ment to get some today but forgot.

At this time the only scheduled pre-ride day is Saturday Oct 30th. Everybody needs to understand that the event is held on private property which is really much of the draw. I wiil inquire about a Friday Oct. 29th afternoon practice session with the land owner, but no promises. Stay tuned.

There will be a Pre-Ride Friday Oct. 29th from 3PM till 6PM at the Tidewater Challenge Race Course. Additional pre-ride times are Saturday Oct. 30th from 7AM till 10AM and from 3PM till 6PM.

Thanks to all that volunteered to help put on this race and to the property owners that allowed all to ride this awesome course each year. Already counting down the days to next years event!
