25th Anniversary Tidewater Mountain Bike Challenge - Oct 27th & 28th, 2012
The Tidewater Mountain Bike Challenge is held each year near the “Historic Triangle” of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. It is located near many local shops and attractions including Busch Gardens, featuring Howl-O-Scream for the month of October.
In its 25th year in 2012 it is the longest running mountain bike race on the East Coast with lots of Racing History! Steve Nevins and crew put together two days of mountain bike racing for all levels and categories. Some of the marquee classes include the Enduro’s, Mountain Crit and Virginia State Single Speed Championship. For those wishing to try their hand at 3 different disciplines the “Tidewater Trifecta” awards the top 3 overall finishers from the combined Mountain Crit, Single Speed and Pro/Expert classes.
The Tidewater Challenge is a race not to miss as the course is on Private Property and ONLY open to this event. The course is a quick and to the point roller coaster affair with every inch of the fast flowing course receiving some TLC from the trail crew. It’s a Pure Classic Action Packed Single Track Mountain Bike Course!
Athletes far and near... Pro and Amateur show for this late season event.
Set the Date for October 27 & 28, 2012!
· “I can't quite put it into words how cool the course is. With 24 years of trail work put onto a private trail with a short course, the trail takes on its own life. It is like a snake that coils and squirms between trees, down ravines and over jumps and lumps, turns and berms. It is the best spectator course out there! The course clover leafs back on itself and people love taking pictures of the berm action and the riders hitting the jumps. The course is what I call "big ring condition" where the turns are like Velcro and the straights are packed almost to a glaze by the earlier racers. Way cool. I told Steve he needs to get hired by the UCI to do all of their course design and trail work!”
